Tuesday 26 July 2011

My friend just recommended to look at the photographer Solve Sundsbo and I have just seen an image which I would really like to try and re-create.

This will be something which I am going to attempt to recreate with my friend but perhaps in a less glamorous way to begin with just to see the kind of results I'd get. Once I have done it a first time, I will evaluate my images and then possibly re-shoot trying to get a glamorous effect from it.

When I am back home in Peterborough or when I have spare time, I am going to make sense of all of my notes and write something about them!

Thursday 21 July 2011

I am actually quite worried about the lack of motivation which I have right now; I've got no self-belief, no confidence and the fact I can't seem to be able to accomplish the majority of things which I set out to do doesn't seem to be helping me. My good friend who takes stunning portraits said he'd help me and give me some of his wisdom which will do me the world of good and now all I need to work on is myself and getting myself up to scratch. Maybe my tutor was right in telling me I was a new person since things had changed because I can feel myself going back down that way again and it can't be good in any which way.

Sunday 17 July 2011

This week will be when I get to go to the Tate museum and to also get a few films developed which I have used so far. I still have plenty more to use up which hopefully I'll be able to do before the time I have to go back home to Peterborough!

Monday 11 July 2011

Today I'll be getting on a train and swanning off up to Liverpool. I suppose I'm excited about going to visit the Tate museum and hopefully I'll be able to see some more sites around the area and then I'll also be able to do my nightclub portraiture idea. Once I've been to the Tate I'll make a post about artists which I liked and I may look into researching them.

Wednesday 6 July 2011

Now I've got all of my film sorted for my travels up north, I just need to pack and get together the pennies so I can actually get up there! I have 4 rolls of colour ISO 400, 1 roll of colour ISO 200, 3 rolls of pan F ISO 400 and 1 roll of Pan F ISO 100. I'm still hoping to get my hands on a roll of colour ISO 800 film before I do my portraits in the club but if I don't then I'll know when shooting my 400 film, the pictures turn out better when the subject is closer.

Tuesday 5 July 2011

Still waiting on my colour film to arrive however after counting the film which I already have, I could start quite the collection. 4 rolls of black and white, 1 roll of colour, 1 pack of impossible project polaroid 600 film and 1 pack of instax wide film. :)

I definitely find the more traditional methods in photography a lot more fun and enjoyable than more recent methods (i.e. digital) but either way they both are costly in buying the equipment and necessary things. When I can hopefully I'll be able to purchase myself a negative scanner which would save me  time and money in getting my films developed and scanned onto a CD in shops. Before I do that I need to be saving for a portfolio box, sleeves and my own domain name! D:

Monday 4 July 2011

Today didn't go to plan at all; it is actually impossible to find colour film at ISO 800 in town anywhere... Jessops had none, Snappy Snaps have none, a pharmacist with a photography bit in don't sell it, Boots don't sell it.. I am at a loss to say the least. The only way I'll be able to get it is to order online and I don't fancy paying extra money just to have it delivered, uh.

Sunday 3 July 2011

Okay so I don't have much productive stuff to write about today however, in the next 11 hours or so I will be going into college to collect some film, getting opinions on my fisheye lomography camera test images and I can also plan on which other film I need to purchase based on my tutor's opinions. I can then plan what I am going to attempt to do whilst visiting Liverpool!

Saturday 2 July 2011

I have made it a set task for me to visit the Liverpool Tate gallery when I do go up to Liverpool. I've told myself I'll take a notebook and pen in with me so I can note down potential artists, sculptures and anyone else who take my attention and who may be a future influence to me. This will be a good opportunity also as the Tate gallery is situated not far from the Albert Docks so I could get some interesting photographs from near and around there also. Without anything specific in mind, this may be a harder task than what it sounds because I don't want to end up taking numerous tourist type shots.

Friday 1 July 2011

Also over the summer I plan to attempt some slow exposures with my friend like in the image to the left. I'm not 100% sure on what people to to get this effect apart from using bulb mode which is when you can control the length of the shutter itself on manual mode, so I'll have to do some researching into that.

But for now, I am going to resume looking at ISO 800 and 1600 colour film prices until I can find one under £5.
Earlier today I bought myself a 3 pack of 36 exposure ISO 400 colour film for when I eventually get to Liverpool and can do a series of images from within a night club on a night out. I want to take a number of portraits of people/friends all in a similar style with my fisheye lomography camera like in the picture to the left of myself and my friend.

I still need to purchase a pack of 24 exposure ISO 800 colour film also so I can experiment with these also. I will get my tutor's opinion on Monday as which ISO film could potentially work best; at least I know how using 400 film will turn out and I can get good results closer up. C:
Okay so I've made myself a photography blog so I can keep on top of what I want to do, what I'm going to do and what I have done.
